SAN ANTONIO, TX – Locals were left shocked after a bizarre shooting and truck crash left a man and a woman dead the morning on August 25.
The incident began early Tuesday when local police received responded to a report of a single-vehicle accident on I-35 near the Walmart Distribution Center. The response team found inside a black Ford Expedition a 33-year-old woman from Austin who was deceased. The woman reportedly died from a gunshot wound.
Simultaneously, a second response team was called to a TA Truck Stop near I-35, following a report of shots being fired. Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that an 18-wheeler left the stop following several gunshots being fired.
Forty-five minutes later, police responded to a report of a truck behaving erratically on I-35. By the time the response team located the truck, it had already rolled over on an intersection near I-35.
Police report says the truck was trying to take a turn from Casa Blanca onto Austin Street at high speed, which is why it rolled over. Inside the truck, police found a 45-year-old-man with a fatal gunshot wound. The unidentified man was reported dead at the scene, and his identity has not yet been disclosed.
Eyewitnesses at the scene where the truck rolled over told police that a second male person fled from inside the truck following the accident. It is not yet certain whether the deceased 45-year-old man was the truck driver or a passenger.
Additional eyewitness reports for local KSAT say that the truck was driving all over the highway, with several near misses and hit a FedEx truck broadside, and fled the scene. A woman eyewitness followed the truck, which, after hitting the truck, ran two red lights and rolled over.
Official police report says that both incidents are related, and are working on the case.
