MARSHALL COUNTY, MS – Police officials have confirmed that a trucker was killed in a major crash on I-22 in Mississippi this Thursday.
According to the Mississippi DPS, the preliminary investigation has concluded that a 61-year-old MS-based truck driver was moving eastbound on I-22 when near the Red Banks exit, the tractor-trailer was rear-ended by a second truck driven by a Tennessee truck driver.
The names of both truck drivers have been released. The driver of the first truck was 61-year-old Leander Webb, while the driver of the second truck was 50-year-old Timothy Scott.
From the impact, Leander Webb was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The circumstances which lead to the crash are still under investigation.
As a result of the crash, all lanes of eastbound I-22 were closed.
